Does your battery no longer hold a charge? Do you want to save a bit of money? I did. Plus, I wanted to see how hard it was to rebuild my own battery pack. It's not hard. I show you how I did it.
I used 15 Sub-C sized Ni-Cd batteries to rebuild my 18 volt Dewalt XRP battery pack. It required removing the 6 Torx screws, opening the pack, removing the contacts from the cells, soldering the cells together, and putting it all back together. This is not something I would do again. I will just pay a bit more for the pre-assembled cells and install them rather than resolder everything. It will save a ton of time, and my time is valuable.
Lead acid battery repair is something we can all benefit from. Lead acid batteries are used regularly all around us. Some typical applications are auto, atv, boating, motor home/rv, aircraft, golf carts, farm equipment, trucking, motorcycles, and water sports. They were invented in 1859 by french physicist Gaston Plante. Despite some of the newer different battery technology we are starting to hear about, the lead acid battery is still the preferred choice for the applications mentioned above. This is a very clear indicator that they are not going to go away anytime soon. In fact their usage continues to increase.
